My new toy

Heh. Because I'm hoping to teach classes online in the fall - I finally broke down and bought a new laptop. I haven't had one since January.

Here's what I got:

(image from http://www.macmall.com/)

And for you geeks who need more than a picture, it is an Apple 13.3" New MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, 4GB/250GB/SuperDrive - Black with Parallels Desktop 3.0 and Microsoft Windows XP Professional pre-installed

Detailed specs: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, 4GB DDR2, 250GB SATA/100,
Intel GMA X3100 graphics 144MB,
13" TFT 1280x800, Super Drive(DVD+-R/CD-RW),
Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n WLAN, Bluetooth, OS X 10.5 Leopard

I haven't got to play with it a whole lot yet, but so far I LOVE IT.

The new Macs have a built-in camera and microphone -
and this cool program called Photo booth.
Here are a few examples of what you can do with it (it can keep you entertained for hours!)

Here I am cheesing it.

Michelle and I in a fish tank - kind of . . . being silly.

Me as a comic . . .

My oldest as a comic

My son as a comic

My youngest as a comic.

Me with the comics! (I know, I'm a dork.)

And finally, me and my Rufus.

Enough fun for today!

More videos to share

A few months ago, I shared some videos I found online that a church was using - a spin-off of Mac vs. PC commercials. Well my church has started doing the same sort of thing, but a little bit different. Our sermon series is entitled "Life: HD" and these videos are entitled Cutting Edge vs. Old School.

I wanted to share these videos as they come out - because I believe some of you will appreciate them. :-)

Christian vs. Christ Follower

My gorgeous husband found some really funny videos on YouTube last night and I absolutely had to share them here. They've been online since May of last year - so if you've already seen them . . . well then watch them again, they're funny!

It seems like the term "Christian" has been given such a negative connotation.

What does it mean if you're a Christian? Does it mean you dress up every Sunday and go to church? Does it mean you look down on those that don't?

An Illinois church created these videos (a parody of the Mac vs. PC ads which I looove).

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Part 6

I think these are great - and a good way to demonstrate how certain beliefs have become so skewed and that the most important part of being a "Christian" is believing in and following Jesus - not all the "stuff" that people associate with church.

What do you think about these videos?

(FYI - if you are interested in showing these at your church or youth group - there are high resolution videos available for purchase here.)

The Morality of the Mac

Okay - so this news is from December, but I thought this was extremely interesting.

According to NPD, Mac users are more likely than PC users to PAY for their online music, and also more likely to actually purchase CDs.

"Mac owners have a slightly higher moral high ground to stand on . . ."

Hmmm.

Shameless Plug

I just had to take a quick second and share this link with everyone.

This is the website for Hunkahubby's budding design business. We created this website in about 2 hours using my Mac Mini and the iWeb software. It has a few issues we need to correct, but I think it isn't bad for as quickly as we put it together. Yay for Macs. And Yay for my honey.

In other news, my 2 oldest children are starting school tomorrow. It is exciting and nerve-wracking for all of us. And my youngest gets to learn what its like to be an only child during the day.

Have a great week!
